MARISSA MUSEUM

The Marissa Museum, at 210 N. Main Street, is operated by the Marissa Historical & Genealogical Society and is open to the public.    Our hours are Mondays and Wednesdays from Noon until 3 p.m. and Friday from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m.    You can also call to set up an appointment if these hours do not fit your schedule.

We have several interesting displays:

Coal Mining

We have many interesting pictures, a strip mine display, and coal mining artifacts.

Veterans Wall

Local veterans who served the the wars are displayed on the wall. There are also displays on WWI and WWI artifacts, uniforms, and binders with veterans pictures and short bios on when and where they served.

We hope you will visit and enjoy our museum.

Below is a quilt donated to the museum by the family of Martha Elizabeth “Lizzie” Boyle.  It was made by Lizzie circa 1920’s to 1930’s.    The display shows only a portion of the quilt.
